4.5" Fluorite Crystal Skull

Every skull begins as a single piece of rainbow fluorite, and no two stones ever band alike. The deep purple, the blue and the green fall in different layers from piece to piece — nature's fingerprints, not flaws. What variation exists is in the depth and direction of each stone's own banding, laid down deep in the earth over ages.

Each skull is carved entirely by hand from a single piece of fluorite, then polished to a glass-like glow. The rounded cranium, the deep eye sockets, the nasal cavity, the cheekbones and the row of teeth are all cut with the same patient hand — nothing moulded, nothing cast. This piece measures about 4.5 × 3.3 × 2.9 inches and weighs 950–1000 g, a substantial presence on a desk or shelf.

Fluorite takes its name from the Latin fluere, "to flow", for the way it helped molten metal flow in early smelting — and it is the very mineral that gave its name to "fluorescence". Found in nearly every color, it is today associated with focus, clarity and an ordered mind. For spiritual reference only.
