What Makes a Skull Featured
Not every block of stone cuts the same way. A featured skull starts with a piece of material that already has something worth preserving — a colour gradient that runs deep, an inclusion pattern that won’t repeat, a surface that takes a polish differently than the next block in the pile. The carving then works with what the stone is doing, not against it.
The skulls in this collection were selected on three grounds: rare or unusual source material, carving quality across the facial planes and fine detail, and a natural pattern distinctive enough that the finished piece could only have come from that one block. None of these are guarantees of monetary value. They are the reasons a piece ended up here rather than in a standard size collection.

Frequently Asked Questions
How are these skulls chosen for this collection?
Each skull in this collection meets at least one of three criteria: the source stone is a less common variety not carried across the full size range; the carving shows above-average precision in the orbital ridge, cheekbones, and jaw detail; or the natural pattern — colour banding, mineral inclusions, chatoyancy, or translucency — is distinctive enough that we would not expect to source the same combination again.
The selection is editorial, not algorithmic. It is reviewed and updated when new material arrives. If a skull is here, it is because something specific about that piece merited the placement.
Does “featured” mean these skulls have stronger crystal properties?
No. Featured refers to the stone and carving, not to any energetic or metaphysical property. Within the crystal community, beliefs about stone properties are personal and subjective — two collectors could choose the same piece for completely different reasons. This collection is curated on observable, material grounds: what the stone looks like, how it was carved, and how rare the combination is.
The above reflects how this collection is selected and is not intended as a claim about metaphysical effects or a substitute for personal discernment.
Are featured skulls one-of-a-kind, and what happens when one sells?
Most skulls in this collection are effectively one of a kind — the natural pattern in a specific block cannot be reproduced once the stone is carved. When a piece sells, it is not restocked with an identical replacement. The collection is updated when new material meeting the selection criteria becomes available, which means the mix changes over time.
If you are considering a specific piece, the practical answer is: it will not come back once it is gone.
