2.0" Red Jasper Bulldog

Red Jasper is a stone of texture rather than pattern. This little bulldog shifts between deep brick-red and warm terracotta, crossed with dark grey-black veins and soft cream patches that belong to no two pieces alike — mineral, natural, nothing uniform about it. What variation exists is in the density and direction of its veins — nature's fingerprints, not flaws.

Every bulldog is carved entirely by hand from a single piece of red jasper, then polished to a mirror finish. The upright bat ears, the round indented eyes, the short blunt muzzle and the sturdy seated pose are all cut with the same patient hand — nothing moulded, nothing cast. It measures 1.4 × 1.2 × 2.0 inches and weighs 50–60 g, small enough to rest on a fingertip, substantial enough to feel like a real companion.

Red Jasper was carried by soldiers of ancient Rome and set into amulets sacred to the Egyptian goddess Isis — a stone of endurance treasured through the ages. Today it is associated with grounding and steady strength. Set this little guardian on a desk, a bookshelf or a bedside table, where a corner of the room quietly becomes something warmer.
