Black Obsidian is born of fire. It is volcanic glass — molten rock that cooled so quickly it never had time to crystallize — and this little unicorn keeps that drama in its depths. Each unicorn is carved entirely by hand from a single piece of black obsidian, then polished to a mirror finish. The single horn, the two pointed ears, the tiny wing shapes carved into the sides and the closed, peaceful eye are all cut with the same patient hand. It stands 3.0 inches tall and weighs 120–130 g — small enough to sit on a shelf, substantial enough to feel like a companion.
Obsidian was carried as an amulet by ancient Rome and carved into ritual objects across Mesoamerica; today it is associated with protection and grounding.
