Sodalite is the stone of the deep blue hour. Its rich royal-blue body is veined with creamy white calcite — not painted on, but grown inside the stone — in patterns that shift like clouds across a night sky, flecked with black mineral points and the occasional warm ochre trace. The distribution of this veining is nature's handwriting, not a flaw. No two pieces carry the same map, which makes every skull genuinely singular.
Every skull is carved entirely by hand, then polished to a mirror finish. Deep-set eye sockets, a clean triangular nasal cavity, defined cheekbones and a full row of individually cut teeth give the piece its anatomical presence, while the glassy surface turns light into a cool, steady gleam. It measures 3.0 × 2.3 × 2.0 inches and weighs 300–330 g — palm-sized, solid, and flat-based so it stands on its own.
The stone takes its name from its sodium content, soda, and was first brought to the world's attention by Inuit carvers in Labrador, who called it simply "bluestone". In ancient Egypt it was valued alongside lapis lazuli, the other great blue stone of the ancient world. Today it is associated with clarity of thought, logic and honest speech.
